Daddy Night

Last sunday was "Ladies Night Out" with my friends, so Kailey got a 'Daddy Night'. Kailey was thrilled with the evening's activity of baking cookies and then decorating them with green frosting. Yum! Kailey was sure to save the cookie that said, "Love" on it for me:)

Super Mommy

Oh, if only I were this strong! Michael found this picture of Kailey and I from way back. I can't believe that the little baby in the front pack is turning four next month. Where does the time go?

Sledding in the Backyard

Our backyard has a terrific hill just right for sledding. Amya came over for a few runs and hot chocolate with Kailey. Those brave little girls had such a blast.

Something's Fishy

Michael has been dutifully going to the river in attempts to catch a Steelhead for some time now. When he returns from a trip, I ask "Did you catch anything?". Empty handed, Michael smiles and says, "Why would I want to ruin a beautiful day of fishing by catching a fish?" So I was surprised when I had to change my dinner plans as Michael caught this gorgeous fish yesterday (Jan. 11th). He calls it "Fish 1-11-11 #1".

Snow Day!

The snow fell all night and blanketed our house with a beautiful cover of fresh snow. We celebrated with a trip to Mount Hood Ski Resort. Kailey took a couple of runs down the "magic carpet" run. It was so exciting to see her standing upright and keeping her balance on those skis. Always the devoted father, Michael said, "Kailey Peterson. It just sounds like the name of a professional ski racer, doesn't it."

How To Get A Kid To Take A Bath

Our little girl loves to listen to princess stories while she's in the water. She quickly transforms into a happy bather...and sometimes into Ariel the Mermaid. You should see her dolphin style kick. Something to behold.

Pink on Pink

It seems that nothing makes a 3 year old happier than strawberry ice cream in a strawberry ice cream cone. Candy makes for a close second in making her a happy little thing. One conversation this morning went a little like this:

Kailey: Mommy, can I have a piece of candy now?
Mommy: Did you eat all of your breakfast?
Kailey: Mommy! I'm supposed to say 'Mommy, can I have a piece candy now?' and you say 'OK'.

Tip Toe Through the Tulips

My friend Lisa introduced me to the ukulele. It is so much fun to play. I am now addicted to the thing. I've found that I can practice for an hour while Kailey dances. I love how fast you can learn a song. I've been working on "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as arranged by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Watch out Hawaii, here I come!

Prima Dona?

Kailey has been recently inspired by the Nutcracker ballet we saw over the holiday season. She's been practicing her dance moves so that she can grow up and be a "princess" that dances with a fairy wand. When Michael saw some of Kailey's greatest moves he said, "Wow! We just might have a 'prima dona' on our hands". Kailey responded with, "But Daddy, I am a 'pretty daughter'."

Big Girl Bed

Back in October, Kailey decided it was time to move to her "Big Girl Bed" complete with moose patterned fleece sheets. Sweet dreams, my darling girl.
